Thunderball is a new slot machine from ElaGames that was released early in 2026. The teaser for the slot game says, “The skies crack open, the reels light up, and the storm of wins is just the beginning.” This is exactly what you will get through a host of bonus features that add handsomely to the payline awards. The glittering main symbol is the icing on the cake because it multiplies the amounts won.
Unfortunately, there is a flip side to the Thunderball video slot. The games provider has posted the return to player as 94%, which just borders on the acceptable limit. If 94% is below your cut off point, you can always enjoy the game in the free play demo mode.
Paylines and Paytable Explained
The bet amount can be selected from the drop-down box. The minimum bet is $0.10 and the maximum bet is $20. High roller players may be disappointed with this low limit on maximum bet.
How to read the paylines?
Thunderball offers five paylines that are active by default. You are not required to select the number of paylines before any spin. The image below displays the configuration of the paylines.
How to read the paytable?
You need to land the same symbol on each reel on any payline to win. There are no awards for getting less than three like symbols. The wild symbol substitutes for all symbols, except the special ones, and also awards the highest line payouts. The paytable in the game rules displays the actual amounts paid for all the winning combinations based on the chosen bet. The paytable below shows the wins for the maximum bet of $20.
The payouts for different bets can also be obtained by applying the multipliers from the table below to the chosen bet.
| Symbol | Name | 3 of a Kind |
 | Sevens | 50x |
 | Bells | 30x |
 | Stars | 16x |
 | Grapes, Melons | 8x |
 | Plums, Oranges, Lemons | 4x |
 | Cherries | 1x |
Bonus Features in Thunderball
The standard free games feature has not been included in Thunderball, but there are other bonuses that provide the action and the payouts. You can also win fixed jackpot payouts that can go up to 1000x the bet.

Boost Feature
Bonus coins are special symbols that appear on the first and third reels. They can have multiplier values from 1x to 15x and will display the value based on the selected bet. Bonus coins may display the names of one of the fixed jackpots. The Grand pays 1000x; The Major pays 150x; the Minor pays 50x; and the Mini pays 25x. Collect coins are also special symbols that can appear only on the second reel and they activate the Boost Feature. When a Collect coin appears, it collects all the values of the Bonus coins on the grid, including the jackpot coins, and adds the total to the payline wins
Bonus Game
The Bonus Game is randomly triggered. Only the Bonus and Collect symbols participate in the game. You start with three respins. In the course of the game if new Bonus or Collect symbols are added to the reels then the respins are reset to three. The game is over when no more respins are left. Then all the values on the Bonus Coins, including those for fixed jackpots, are added and credited to the player’s account.
Thunderball Feature
In the Bonus Game, a special Thunderball multiplier symbol may land on the reels. In the first instance it creates a 2x multiplier. Then on every repeat the multiplier increases by 2x. The multiplier at the end of the game is applied to the Bonus Coin winnings.
Lucky Respin Feature
Not all spins will result in a win and players will be disappointed when there are no payouts. Lucky Respin Feature tries to partially remedy this. After a non-winning spin, you may be randomly awarded a respin in which you are guaranteed to get one of the following: a payline win; the Boost Feature; or the Bonus Game.
Gameplay Overview
Expert slots players ask for more than just the description of the features of the game. So, in this section we analyse some important gameplay indicators that will help players make considered choices in how to play Thunderball.
Maximum Wins
The maximum win is 1000x the bet amount and this comes through the Grand Jackpot bonus coin. In a spin it is possible to get multiple wins through additional bonus coins, multipliers, and payline wins, so players may end up winning more. However, when compared to the average maximum win value in other slots, Thunderball falls short.
Volatility
ElaGames has declared that Thunderball has high volatility. In simple terms this means that many spins will result in small payouts but a few spins will yield the big payouts. Players will have to plan for long sessions to even out the luck factor.
Return to Player (RTP)
The slot game has an RTP of 94.00%. Our experts rate anything above 96% as high RTP and anything below 94% as unacceptable. Based on this rating, Thunderball just manages to enter the acceptable level. We have many best payout slots reviewed on our website for players looking at the highest RTP slots.
Audio and Visual Design
Thunderball has a retro theme, which fits perfectly with its classic slots structure. The high paying symbols are seven, bell, and star, while the low paying symbols are the common fruits of the old electromechanical slot machines. Each symbol appears as a pair, which differentiates Thunderball from other classic slots.
The atmosphere on the screen is electrifying. The reels are surrounded by a deep blue fluorescent halo. Lightning streaks appear at every event, whether payline wins or collection of bonus coins. Play with the audio enabled because the background music is vibrant and energetic.
