Thunder Coins XXL: Multicoin is a new addition to the Playson Thunder Coins family. The slot game introduces the exciting flame-wreathed Multicoin Feature that offers the potential of multiplying payouts manifold. Many features from the base version have been retained including the electric blue lightning struck background. If you are a fan of this theme and genre, you will get more of the new without losing any of the old. And if this slot concept is new to you then this is a perfect game to start with.
Before you dive deep into the review here are a few pointers to look out for. The grid has been expanded to five rows, which allows for 15 paylines and therefore more ways to win. The Buy Bonus and Extra Bets options have been included and this will be great for players willing to ride on a higher risk-return curve.
Paylines and Paytable Explained
The bet amount can be selected by toggling the + and – buttons. The bet ranges from $0.20 to $100, which will be acceptable to almost all players.
How to read the paylines?
15 fixed paylines run through the grid in Thunder Coins XXL: Multicoin slot machine. All are enabled by default and you will not be asked to select the number of paylines. The image below displays the configuration of the paylines.
How to read the paytable?
You need to land three like symbols on any payline to win. There are no payouts for getting two of the same symbols. The wild symbol substitutes for all symbols, except the special ones, and also awards the highest line payouts. Once you select the total bet, the paytable in the game rules will show the actual amounts payable for the winning combinations. The paytable below shows the wins for the maximum bet of $100.
We are tabulating the payout multipliers below. You can use these for calculating the total payouts for different bets.
| Symbol | Name | 3 of a Kind |
 | Sevens (Wild) | 30x |
 | Bells | 10x |
 | Bars | 8x |
 | Grapes, Melons | 4x |
 | Plums, Oranges, Lemons | 1x |
 | Cherries | 0.5x |

Multicoin Feature
This is the feature that gives the slot game its name. When you land the Multicoin symbol along with any other coin, a payout multiplier of up to 20x comes into effect. The multiplier will be applied to the total of the coin values, including those of Jackpot coins. If this feature is activated in the Bonus Game then additional random multipliers can be triggered.
Thunder Feature
This feature is triggered in any spin that displays a Thunder Coin along with any other coin. It is not as powerful as the Multicoin Feature. The total value of all coins, including Jackpot Coins, are added to payline wins without being multiplied. If the feature is triggered in the Bonus Game then the values of all coins in the entire feature are totalled and added to the player’s account.
Bonus Game
The Bonus Game is triggered by landing regular coin symbols on reels 1 and 3 and either a Thunder Coin or Multicoin on reel 2. The feature starts with three respins in which only the different coin symbols appear on the reels. Thunder Coins and Multicoins remain stuck on the reels till the end of the feature. Each coin symbol adds up to 8x the total bet to the player’s balance. In the course of the game if new coin symbols appear on the reels, then the respins are reset to three. The game is over when no more respins are left.
Fixed Jackpots Feature
There are four Jackpot Coins in the Thunder Coins XXL: Multicoin online video slot. When any of these appear on the screen in either the Multicoin Feature or in the Thunder Feature then you are paid the multiplied value associated with that jackpot. The multipliers are as follows: Grand 1000x; Major 100x; Minor 30x; and Mini 15x.
Buy Bonus
In case you do not want to wait for the Bonus Game to trigger normally, you can buy it by paying a fee. There are three options you can choose from.
First: A bonus game with one guaranteed Multicoin or Thunder Coin for 75x the total bet.
Second: A super bonus game with a guaranteed Multicoin and Thunder Coin for 175x the total bet.
Third: A Multicoin bonus game with two guaranteed Multicoins for 250x the total bet.
Extra Bets
These bets do not guarantee outcomes but increase the chance of the Bonus Game being triggered.
Double Chance: Doubles the chance for the bonus being triggered for 1.5x the bet
Thunder Coin Spin: Guarantees a special coin and triples the chance for the bonus being triggered for 5x the bet.
Gameplay Overview
This section provides expert slots players some additional useful information about Thunder Coins XXL: Multicoin.
Maximum Wins
The maximum win of 1000x the bet amount comes through the Grand Jackpot bonus coin. This is not as attractive as compared to many contemporary slot games. You will find a list of these video slots at JackpotSlotsCanada.
Volatility
Thunder Coins XXL: Multicoin is a medium volatility slot game. Activating the Buy Bonus or Extra Bet options increases the volatility to the higher end of the medium range.
Return to Player (RTP)
The RTP of 95.65% falls just short of the high range. However, it is good enough for real money slots play so you should not have second thoughts on selecting this slot machine.
Audio and Visual Design
Thunder Coins XXL: Multicoin does not offer anything different in the audio visual design but it does tick all the boxes for classic slots. The retro theme uses the customary symbols, including the fruit symbols. The grid with five rows is a departure from the norm.
As with other similar slot games, the reels are placed in an electric blue background. Lightning streaks appear whenever there are payline wins or bonus triggers. The vibrant background music adds its own energy to the gameplay.

Pros & Cons
- Buy Bonus options
- Multicoin Bonus feature
- Popular retro theme
- No distinctive features
- Max win is only 1000x the bet
We must point out some minor downsides as well. The RTP is 95.65%. So, it does not classify as a high RTP slot game. Another disappointment is that the maximum payout is only 1000x the bet. On the net we recommend Thunder Coins XXL: Multicoin for real money play.

Thunderball
The respins are randomly triggered, but they work in exactly the same manner. If you land the glittering Thunderball symbol in the bonus features, your payouts will be multiplied many times over.
Diamond Charge Extra
The feature is named as Hold and Win. Another difference is that the slot is played on a regular 5×3 grid. For complete details on how the bonus feature works check our review of Diamond Charge Extra.
Coin Strike Hold and Win
This slot game is also from Playson, so the similarities are greater. The retro symbols and the electric background are nearly identical, but the expert player will find nuanced differences.
3 Sparking Crowns
In the respin bonus feature all diamond symbols get sticky. The game can extend till all 15 spots on the grid are covered by diamonds. You also have the four customary fixed jackpots. So, there is plenty to play for.
